If you’re unfamiliar with the concept of steampunk, it’s essentially neo-victorianism. That is to say it mixes new technology with Victorian design and styling. It’s highly likely you’ve seen much of this type of style in films, books and artwork over the past few years as it has grown in popularity.
As a community built on Victorian science fiction, there are no rules to steampunk, which means we don’t have the restrictions that re-enactors have to stick to.
Alongside my photography and freelance writing, I also run and edit a steampunk website called steampunkjournal.org. If you want to know more about this fascinating sub-culture, then pop along over there and have a read of a few articles.
Below are a selection of portraits I’ve taken at steampunk shoots and events.
Leeds Steampunk Market, March 7&8 2015
I was honoured to be the photobooth photographer on both days of the Leeds Steampunk Market in March 2015. Below are the pictures which have been separated into portrait and landscape orientation for website formatting purposes.
The photobooth was a free shoot and you are free to download the images of yourself to use as you wish. These pictures are 1000-1500 pixels on the longest side, so are perfect for web use. To download a picture, left click to view it alone, right click then choose “view image”, finally right click again and “save image”. If you don’t click on the image first, you’ll only download the thumbnail you see below.
I will be editing a few photos and posting them on my Facebook page, which you can follow here: photofairground Facebook page
I would love to think that you like them enough for a print. The images below aren’t edited. Prints will be edited for exposure, contrast, dust & unforeseen or unavoidable errors. To order a print and support a local artist, please see the price list for prints below:

Please note, I don’t print pictures on a home printer. I use a professional grade laboratory that prints on premium paper using state of the art technology. Images are light-fast for over 75 years and include standard glossy paper. There are alternative papers for an additional fee. Please get in touch for options and a quote.
